  • Happy New Allotment!

    Hi!
    Happy New Year 2020

I've recently taken on an allotment, and it's basically a jungle!

There are several overgrown bushes and trees, brambles, an almost dead Rhody and all sorts of rubbish on there.

I'm totally new to allotment keeping and I'm looking for as much help and advice as possible!

Happy new allotment VonTibs. The search facility on here will get you great info or if you just fancy the craic then fire away with queries. Usual first step is assess what you have on there that you can keep, fruit bushes, rhubarb maybe asparagus if you're lucky, get rid of the rubbish and then tackle the jungle in whatever method you decide but do it at your own pace so that you enjoy rather than see it as a chore.

HI there, welcome to the forum and a happy new year to yourself, you will find and get lots of advice on here,i would start by cutting it down, clear any rubbish, either a tip trip or a fire, then cover up,just for now, take some pics before hand, then you can look back and see how much you have done, you will not be able to post any yet, untill you have done so many, use a fork to do any digging to start with, get to know whats weeds you got,all the best, just ask away and bodys will give you advice.

Welcome to the vine from me also. Be realistic with how much time you can give to your allotment, cover up what you can't deal with straight away, and work on a bit at a time.
          Another happy Nutter...

We need piccies. And you need piccies to see how well you have done this time next year. Good luck, and I look forward to seeing your progress.

Hi VonTibs and welcome to the Forum.
If I'm to believe most of the new plot holders, 99% of new plots are jungles. You're not alone!
Take your time, assess what is there, and clear it a bit at a time, just enough to plant something - potatoes, onions sets. Once there's something growing you'll feel good about it!
