    Default greetings!

    Hello friends

I've managed to get an allotment (half plot of 5 rods) after about 2 years. I've done some gardening (backyard) but nothing as big as an allotment. It requires a clean up and a bit concerned with the shadow the tree will cast. Any advice?

    Thanks

    Hello and welcome Royalspud

Unfortunately you don't have enough permissions yet to upload any photos. Keep talking and you will soon be there - I want to look it won't take long!

Anyway, what do you want to grow? What have you grown in the past. Nice time to get a plot. You can start sowing inmodules and hopefully you'll have some areas for planting when your young plants are ready to go in.

Hi there, and welcome to the Vine
I'm afraid you won't be able to post any photos for the first few posts as a general security rule...but keep posting-it doesn't take many posts

Well done of getting your allotment!

Welcome royalspud, as another newbie plot holder I can't really offer any advice but the other grapes are most knowledgeable

Hello and welcome, royalspud. Not a lot you can do with a tree except prune it or remove it, but you may not want or be able to do either of those. If you like lettuce, they like a shady spot in summer, so you could prove successful with those.

Hope you have a great gardening year.

Many thanks for the warm welcome.

I was hoping to show you all the state of the plot. I've inherited a plot that needs alot of clean up - a broken down shed full of rubbish and lots of twigs and branches from the fig tree on the plot

I've grown tomatoes, potatoes and corn in the past. I tried squash and pumpkin but didn't succeed.

I'm hoping to grow sweet potatoes, beetroot, kale/spinach and some berries.
