  • Greetings from Malaysia

    Hi everyone,

My name is Khusairy from Malaysia. I came across this forum when I was looking around the internet and searching for information on some rare plants to grow in my little garden.

I hope to make some friends here and see if we can share ideas on what nice and rare crops to grow

    Cheers,
    Khusairy

        Hi Khusairy, and welcome

Wow !! we envy your growing conditions - all year warm temperatures and no such thing as a shady north-facing wall for half the year, no really long or really short days !!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone

Yes, the weather is nice and spring all year here (or was it summer?). And I really think it's a waste if I don't start growing rare plants in my plot soon. I'm gonna get busy reading the threads here now.

Its hard to imagine what a rare plant is for you. Probably everything that you consider to be ordinary in your garden would be rare to us!

I think wasabi is quite rare

I love sushi and have never tried planting wasabi before. Maybe it's common in Japan. I've never seen anyone selling it in the morning market here in Malaysia.

I'll share some seeds with the fellow gardeners here if anyone is interested. I'll see what seeds I have and perhaps open a new thread in a relevant section later

                    Thanks for sharing the link!

I eat it too but as what the article mentioned, the wasabi that we're getting from the packet only contain 15% wasabi so I guess the root itself must be tasting a lot nicer. So that's definitely one of the plant that I am going to try out soon.

just had a google on seeds, there are some on ebay,
                      40 seeds = £8.00
                      10 seeds = £2.49
                      both are £1.85 postage,
very expensive, plus can seeds be saved in this country, and is a heated under cover needed,

                        Thanks Lottie Dolly

I am going to get ahead for the one on ebay listing, I think we're looking at the same one because I only saw two or three there.
