  • Getting to Know you

    Hi all,

I have accidentally found your forum while running a seed saving search. And am really enjoying the posts.

We live quite high at 1300ft in Wales, so our season is often a week or 2 behind lower down. I love getting seeds to grow and my greenhouse, while my husband gets to do the hard labour. We were lucky enough to buy a derelict house a few years ago which we spent a year tuning into a disabled forever home.

The house was a small row built 150 years ago and the other streets have grown around us with just back yards, so our garden is more like a walled large area. It was completely overgrown with bramble, thistle, shrubs and trees. I only have a 12x6 norfolk greenhouse, but it works hard. We have a green dessert with soft fruit at front, a 25ft square wild bird area, people and kids play area, a fish pond built 18 months ago which has frogs and newts, vegetable area, and we are slowly adding some fruit trees at back and native hedging for the birds.
Anything is possible with the right attitude, a hammer
and a roll of duct tape.

Welcome from Scotland Mamzie. That's a lovely big greenhouse. I hope there is room in there for a wee seat where you can sit and enjoy looking round at your garden.
Mostly flowers, some fruit and veg, at the seaside in Edinburgh.

Indeed there is. I am lucky that my son built his pond right opposite my door so I get to hear waterfall tinkling as well - it's a good old fashion sand and cement hand built pond as his Bampi was guiding him how to do it x
