    Hi There,

Thought I'd join this forum as I am interested in expanding my knowledge, had mixed results in the garden last year and want to hone my skills to a more fruitful level

I am based near Neath in South Wales.
Excuse me, could we have an eel? You've got eels down your leg.

Hello, MrDinkle, honing our skills is something we all aspire to on here but for most of us, just getting something to grow in our great British climate is all we hope to achieve. One thing we're very strong on is ENTHUSIASM. Welcome to the 'Vine'.

I am hoping to grow lots of things - got all my seeds ready and have recently erected two quarter size small alu frame greenhouses.

              I am hoping to grow;

              potatoes
              carrots
              peas
              broadbeans
              runner beans
              tomatoes (several types)
              peppers (several types)
              chillis
              courgettes
              aubergines
              lettuce / salad leaves
              basil / oregano / coriander
              salad onions

and probably other stuff, but space is at a premium so we'll see!

That's a nice list. Have you had any success with aubergines before? I am going to try them for the first time this year.

I had two plants last year and ended up with one and a half dinky stripy edible aubergines. But did not have any greenhouse space last year so am hoping for better this year.

I love baked med veg so am determined to get a good crop!

That is encouraging, my OH has asked me to give them a go this year and I am hoping for success.

                        Thank you!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone - I have a feeling I will be spending a lot of time on here picking brains!

Yup should be ok - we had terrible rain and yuk summer so as long as we all pray for sunshine and place them in the greenhouse we should be ok!
