  • Ahoy there

Hey everyone, im new here so be nice. Already had some great advice so im sure theres some great minds out there.

A bit about myself, im james or jim which ever is easier, Im 21 and have been growing my own for about 2 years although this year will be my first serious bash at it after finally persuading my mum to let me turf up half of the garden!
I live in london which has its perks because the warmer climate comes in handy although it isnt doing much for me now.

I'll have lots of questions for you lot so heads up, and i look forward to getting to grips with it all.

    Cheers jim

We're all nice on here, Jim, it's just that we work so hard on the plots that we can't be bothered to argue Visit often and enjoy the forum.

Welcome and i hope when you lifted the turf you stacked it upside down in a nice square heap and in 12 months time it would be loam wonderfull stuf for sowing seeds in jacob

Hi there Jim- and welcome to the Vine!

I hope you encourage your youthful mother to join in the fun! We could do with a few more sensible ladies of 'a certain age' here on the Vine

Good to hear you managed to claim part of the garden- that will be so handy for you.
What are you planning to grow this year?

At the moment i have red and white onions in, a few cauliflowers, some cabbages, carrots, potatoes and in the propogator i have some strawberries, peppers and chillis, leaf salads and i think thats about it.

Just trying the easy things, i came to my own conclusions that these were the easy ones lol! Although if anyone has tips on the strawberries id be most greatful!

Oh and jacob, yes i did.

I covered my strawberries in fleece for the first year on my new lottie (2 yr old plants)and pulled off the fleece at weekends (when we were on the lottie ) when they were in flower- we had fruit mid May!!!!! Well worth the cost of the fleece which was used again in the Autumn....
