  • Growing Coriander

    Hi All
I got 12 small Coriander plants from my local garden center. I divided them into two 12"x 6" containers, about 8 in one and 4 in the other.
I have them in the greenhouse and both have been treated the same, I think!!
Problem is, if it is a problem, the container with 8 it a much lighter green the the container with 4.
Any ideas on what could be causing this and is there a problem around the corner??

Sounds like a deficiency of some sort. Did you feed them when you potted them on?

Coriander is best grown from seed in my opinion, i've never had much success with the ready grown stuff.

Just wondering why you didn't put six in each?

Put 8 in the first container and then could not find a smaller one for the last 4, so used the same size.

So, the four are going to get more nutrients than the 8, because they have more compost to themselves

You can still move them, although I think you've got them too close together as is. The coriander on my allotment grows 8" wide and 12" tall. http://www.herbexpert.co.uk/growingcoriander.html

I always grow from seed. I haven't bought any for a few years, I just save the seed from my plants. Although I've grown in containers, I've had better success sowing straight into the ground. As TS says, move them further apart, they need more space. Don't like it myself, but my daughter uses it a couple of times a week.
