  • Fancy a cuppa? Herb teas

That title was clickbait to tempt you to look at my next idea - some would say its "daft".
As you know, there is a "little shop". at the bottom of the garden. Now I'm thinking of opening a Tea Shop. It will specialise in Herb teas, pure or blended, organically grown and served freshly picked in season; dried in winter.

This is where I need your help please.
Which Herb teas can you recommend? I know that Mint is popular and I'm quite fond of Rosemary and/or Sage and Lemon Verbena (although this has been in short supply recently). I'm hoping it will be back on the shelves in a couple of weeks.

    Any suggestions please?

    What a lovely idea!
The first which jump to mind are chamomile and fennel.
(Nettle, blackberry , rosehip and hawthorn also seem to be used a lot in local herbal teas. I imagine you already have a lot of those)

Thyme. I just love it. Perfect in autumn and winter if you've got a bit of a sore throat. I pick it when the flowers are out.

Chamomile would be my next favourite.

I'm going to do that really annoying online thing where you answer the question with an answer that isn't really for that question and thus technically is not an answer...

I know it's not herb, but my favourite is fresh ginger and star anise. Particularly in winter, or when feeling a tad dyspeptic.

Never had herbal tea - I've had a few tisanes though.

          Lemon balm is refreshing

Chamomile is delicious. It tastes like new mown hay smells, if that makes any sense. Best unsweetened, but I don't sweeten any tea/coffee/cocoa anyway. And it really does give you a good night's sleep if you drink it in the evening.

I can't really help because I never use herbs that way, but listening with intent!

                Is Rum a herb?
If it is, forget the hot water.

My favourite is scented geranium (pelargonium Graveolens)
Last year I had a big tub near the back door that I called my tea pot.
It had pelargonium graveolens, lemon verbena and african blue bush basil.
Looked lovely all summer and tasted good too.

Hi VC, I’m experimenting with Teas at the minute(I love tea). Trying my own blends. What about:-

                    Ginger
                    Honey (local)
                    Orange peel
                    Lemon verbena
                    Lemon Grass
Any dried fruit such as raspberry, straws etc
Peppermint, maybe try the pineapple mint, chocolate etc.
Lavender flowers - tried them and it’s top notch and calming.

Can use all types of spices too.

Also try blending with different tea types....Assam, Rooibos, earl grey, green etc.

                    Kind Regards.............Rob
