  • Can you spend your T & M voucher?

Well it's really nice to get a voucher if you do.

But you have to hear this story about trying to spend it!

First you cannot use a £10 voucher on their website - £5 maximum. So I call to ask how to order what I want and this guy says they cannot do it over the phone and someone will call me back with advice . 5 hours later I call again and a lovely lady tells me the back door to getting the voucher through on the website. 2 hours later I get a call back from a very harried lady who appears to have a very long list of call backs to sort out.

So I order a pack of seeds, raspberries, a gooseberry and I get some free strawberries. I spend a fair bit more than £10.

The seeds arrive first - or they don't. An envelope arrives and a packing not but no seeds. First email sent to get them sorted out. 2 days later a reply and another envelope this time with seeds.

It's been a while now and I really want the raspberries/gooseberry in the ground - so another email sent. 2 days later another reply dated 7th March saying the raspberries were picked and sent on 22nd Feb and please allow 7-10 days for delivery. Now I would have thought they must have know that this was nearly 3 weeks from 22nd when they wrote. the raspberries arrived today - 9th, together with 3 dead strawberries [I wonder why]. 3 weeks to get a few plants to you?

Apparently the Gooseberry is late - but will arrive by the end of the month. Lets hope they don't use snail mail for that.

This service is not good is it? What on earth has happened to T&M?

Perhaps the mag should find another way of thanking their contributors rather than offering them access to a supplier who clearly cannot cope.

Sorry to rant - but really!

I haven't had my free seeds yet from T&M, that I qualified for by spending over whatever amount it was in their catalogue (I didn't need ten quid of seeds, so I took my voucher as discount off a mini-greenhouse). The greenhouse arrived fairly promptly, just no freebie

How unfortunate Storming Norman. I've dealt with T&M for years and never had a problem.

I had a £10 voucher earlier in the year which I couldn't use on the internet but it was no problem to order by mail, and I got my free seeds.
I've got a £5 voucher now which I can use on the internet.

I do hope you get your problems sorted out.

I've not had problems ordering seeds from them, but I wasn't impressed with their service on their plants last year. The purple petunias were white, the fuschias had a lot of rotten leaves, and I lost a couple to mildew, I think they had been in the post too long. Then some other plants I ordered were out of stock, but they didn't let me know for a over a month, took the money, and I finally got them almost 5 months later. I've decided not to order plants again.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

If their website can't accept anything bigger than a £5 voucher, wouldn't it make sense to issue £5 vouchers instead of £10 ones?? (or sort their website out of course)

Hey folks I made a mistake - sorry that's bit embarrassing - it's not 3 weeks to delivery but 2. Still a bit too long for live plants though.

Obviously I've not enough fingers. Apologies.

However the issue still a real drop in quality from a past reliable supplier.

Let's hope it is only me with problems. It looks like it by your replies.

I have found that they tend to drag their feet sending anything. I do occasionally order seeds from them but prepare myself for the inevitable long wait.

It's a shame as other suppliers do tend to be eager to impress and surpass expectations.

I hope the admin are reading this. I wonder now as I have asked for some sweet potato slips and am thinking perhaps I shouldn't of bothered. GYO admin if this voucher cannot be spent on the web how do you use it?. I am not over enamered with t&m anyway. can I use it in a garden centre against thier products?. If not don't bother sending me one as I have asked them to remove me from thier mailing list as I got fed up with e mails trying to sell me something and I for one do not want it. If I want to buy something I will do the asking. I could always raffle it off for the local hospice only that is probably against the rules aswell. GYO admin send out general vouchers which would be more appreciated anyway. cheers now and good luck to all.

I got a £5 online voucher, but when I placed my order, it went through without taking my fiver off
Emailed T&M, who are now sending me adverts twice a week, but have not replied to my request for my fiver back.

Update: 3 weeks later, still no £5 off, and no reply to my customer query. The seeds arrived though.

                      Hey Guess what!

This issue gets better - The gooseberry I ordered is still not delivered, and will not be with me now until the end of April or later - that seems very odd for a bare root plant.

I wonder why they did not know about this a month ago. This order was placed at the end of January. Good grief........

I give up now - this order is cancelled.

2 growing years have now put me of T&M. Last year they sent the wrong seed potatoes substituting a cheaper and frankly inferior variety. I complained so they promised a £5 voucher which arrived 1 week before it ran out and I couldn't use it on the internet despite my order being placed that way.

This year their seeds arrived over 3 weeks later than other orders I had placed which was a right pain as I had moved house! Thankfully I have a wonderful postie. Won't be using them again especially as their postage is so high

I'm still looking at my voucher! I much prefer to order on line. I've had half price seeds twice from T&M and had them within a week so I have no beef about that, (I get their emails) But it seems a bit rum that you have to order through the post.

Never had seed probs with T&M but have with live plants. Also have noticed recently that garden centres where I used to pick up T&M seeds no longer seem to stock them.Do you think they are running into problems?

Seeds arrived today that I ordered with my voucher. Took 10 days including the Easter break, so I', more than satisfied.
