    Wedging fence panels...

    in concrete posts.

    Fed up of the rattling and damage I am once again trying to wedge tight my fence panels mounted on gravel boards between concrete posts (the slide in types). My previous attempts to make wooden wedges have failed miserably so now I am considering using those plastic window packers (available from all good on-line retailers). Has anyone else tried this method and was it successful?

    A couple of weeks ago I too got fed up with the rattling of the fence panels in their concrete posts. I had previously cut the old fences up (to use in the chimnea). I was able to use one of the thin offcuts and gently hammer it down the side of the panel. It seems to have done the trick.

        my OH used mastic to fix the wedges in ,it seems to have worked !

          Yes, I was also going to suggest silicon sealant.

            Putty in mine, stops the rattle but still allows expansion in the wetter month's.

                Some wine bottles have foam plastic cork-a-likes. Cut them into disks and use them as wedges, unlike real cork they stay put for yonks.
