I've got one of these, works great, bit more pricey though. I'm sure the ones you're looking at will do just as good a job, H@zelock stuff is always more, you're paying for the brand really.

hi , i did look at those and wasnt sure if they would work on a gravity system , they show alot connected to outside tapes and the water pressure would be diff to gravity ,not sure if im over thinking this or not ,cheers

That’s been my worry as well. At one point I considered building this:

I'd like to set up an auto system from water butts for when I'm away on holiday, I shall watch this with interest.

I have one like this. It's attached to a tap but it turns on and off with or without water pressure. https://www.screwfix.com/p/verve-pro...er-timer/4280v

I did a google search for your user name and irrigation.

the big lebowski irrigation site :www .growfruitandveg.co.uk

you need to remove the spaces between site : www .grow

wow , thx v much ,thats my set up ,i am going to have 1 waterbutt per bed , bedsize roughly 1meterish x 2-3 metersish , ill put down diff amounts of hoses depending on what im growing and set the timers diff for each type of veg im growing but so far its worked really well on potatos and strawberrys ,cheers

One thing I have noticed, irrigation stuff is very low pressure, and will blow hoses out when left on (even a slightly-open) tap.

I have now fitted a loo cistern valve in the header tank for the adjudication, and it's made a difference in reliability and not having pressure differentials along the drippers.

Can you explain how you attach the water butt to the input end please?

I just ran a small length of hose between the tap at the bottom of the waterbutt, and the top input of the timer, using the appropriate H@zelock compatible fittings.

We have got a timer exactly like the first link you posted. Ours is fed off a gravity fed tank, and works perfectly to feed drippers in our polytunnel
