hi all where does everyone get there water butts from ? the cheapest one i`ve seen is in wilkos has anyone found anywhere else ? or any idea where i could get hold of those big blue plastic barrel i see about on other allotments and in photos ,any suggestions are appriciated,cheers

I got 2 of those blue barrels from a bloke who runs a car washing business near us - it's what the liquid soap comes in so you have to wash them out well, and sawing the lid off is hard work as the plastic is quite thick, but a downpipe off your guttering fits perfectly into the hole that the barrel's cap goes into. Paid him a tenner for 2 of them.
They're often available on eBay too - had a quick look for you and nearest ones to Bedford are Cambridge at the moment. Take you about 45 mins will it, depending on what side of Cambridge they are...?

I bought my first water butts from Wilkinsons as they were the cheapest at the time. I got a blue barrel for my last one from my allotment shop unfortunately don't know where they got them from. They did only get ones that had been used for foodstuffs so I am guessing from some catering source.Comment
