  • Tropical Fruit and Vegetables seeds

Anyone have ordered from tropicalfruitandveg.com | Seeds for Sale
They aren't on Facebook and I cannot find any reviews on Trustpilot or similar sites.
Does anyone know of a similar seeds type site? Thank you. :-)

I had a look at that site and there is no address/email or phone number available. I would go somewhere else
What kind of seeds are you looking for?

I have used Trade Wind Fruits... never any issues with them...
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

Thanks for your reply. I'm not looking for anything in particular. Someone mentioned Indian seeds and I was just looking if there is anything suitable to grow here. I enjoy growing and trying new things.

I Googled it and I found a company in California with that name. Prices are great and they have lot of different seeds, but I'm not sure of shipping costs and regulations. I'll email them. Thanks a lot.

Never used them. However not my kind of gardening.

If I was buying from them... ...would think about the value - can I afford to loose the money? ...would look at the payment method - paypal should be safe enough - check when you get to the payment screen that paypal are offerring their buyer protection.

You looked on Trustpilot - however the site is not taking any of your details at all - you provide them via paypal.

Lack of contact details - a pain to follow up any issues but if you put an email on a website in plain sight you get spammed...

However, if I remained concerned then I'd take a look at the domain history. The site has (C) 2006-13 marking so you'd expect the domain to have been going since then. But the domain seems to have only been registered in 2012. That seems odd, although they could have multiple domains.

The domain registration does have a UK contact address. The site is hosted on a server in Iceland.

A search of companies house for the domain registrant reveals he's an "IT consultant" who dissolved his IT consultancy this summer... He doesn't appear to have registered the tropical fruit company as a business.

Not sure what all this means, but I think it means tread carefully and make sure you don't send them your life savings...

Thank you, Polc, I am not going to place an order with them. I don't want buying on line if I can't pay using PayPal, except for companies such Real Seeds which I know they are genuine and honest people.
              Much appreciated! :-)

                  Seeds for sale at tropicalfruitandveg.com

I accidentally noticed this thread and felt I had to reply as I am the owner of tropicalfruitandveg.com website. I cannot believe all the fear, uncertainty and doubt regarding the website. Surely all you have to do to find our more info is send a question via the "contact us" form. That is what most people do.

In response to the concerns mentioned:

                  1. Please read the "about us" which explains that the site is mainly for information. Growing tropical fruit and veg is actually my hobby, it is not a business, the few seeds I sell pays for hosting and changes to the website.

                  2. The site was registered as tropicalfruitandveg.co.uk back in 2006 until I bought the domain tropicalfruitandveg.com 2 years ago as the site now gets over 100K hits a month. I moved hosting to Iceland as it is cheaper than the UK based hosting that I used to use.

                  3. The website asks for no bank, credit card or any personal info - everything is taken care off by Paypal. If anyone has ever used paypal before you should know that you are covered by their buyer protection policy.

Once again, growing tropical fruit and veg in the UK is challenging and a hobby not a business. Do not order anything if you are a farmer as I only have a few seeds available - happy to answer questions and give advise about growing various tropical fruit and veg if you contact me using the correct method using the "contact us" form.

                  Regards,
                  Mr. tropicalfruitandveg.com

                    Hello & welcome Mr. tropicalfruitandveg

Some on here do indeed grow "odd" plants, there is always a degree of interest when anybody finds new (to us) varieties & sometimes a degree of skepticism as to the validity of the products/site,so I would like to say thank you on behalf of our members for calling in & giving the above clarification

Please feel free to enjoy the forums & any knowledge you would like to impart I'm sure would be most welcome.

I apologize if I have offended you in anyway, but since I could not find any reviews on Trustpilot, neither a Facebook page or a physical address and phone, I opened this post to find other gardener's experiences buying on your site. If you can, I recommend you create a Facebook page, where people can read other customer's reviews, write and read other people's experiences growing your seeds, post pictures of their progress, etc.

Again, I'm really sorry but I'm sceptical on buying on line and I like double checking before buying anything.

Admin, please remove this post if its not allowed or it's inappropriate.

Thanks for all your comments. I shall take a renewed interest in gardening forums as I suppose all are like minded individuals.

I actually do have a facebook page but I do not use it much except to publish some of my pictures. You can see the pictures using link below. I also tweet and give the occasional commentary on the success (or not) of my tropical plants. My twitter id is @tropicalfnv.
