  • Three bird roast........

Not sure whether this is the place to put this but move it if you like, mods?
This year there's only me and wor lass for Crimbo so I got a three bird roast from Aldi for a tenner.
If anyone asks we're having Chicken, Turkey AND Duck this year cos we is posh!

Most of the meat on Turkeys we've had in the past was thrown out or the dog got it, same goes for the turkey crown we had last year so decided it was time for a change..

    Anyone had one btw?

No, but I'm seriously thinking of getting one - assuming we can get them here en France. KK and I are like chalk and cheese and he doesn't really like turkey but I do but he does like duck and I don't so, we're thinking of having one that has a bit of everything in it.
    Bonne appetite!

Yes, had several over the years. No complaints.

Mr TS prefers the Aldi processed one to a proper butcher's (£60) one. I'm not happy that it's un-free range, but there you go

I've bought a 3 Bird Roast this year - Chicken joint stuffed with turkey, duck and pork sage & onion stuffing. I don't think it will look quite as nice on the plate once it's sliced, but I'm hoping it will give a variety of flavours.

Instructions state to slow cook for 3hrs, so I'm going to have it resting on marrow, pumpkin, leeks and red onion slices to absorb all the juices and flavours.

I have had three- and five-bird roasts, usually served by my Sister, as she loves them. Both delicious!

Is a three bird roast the same as a Three dog night?

Have had them a couple of times and must admit prefer my birds 'pure' - don't really like combining the flavours of poultry.

Bit too much stuffing in it for my liking but apart from that not too bad!

We had the three bird roast for Xmas day and I could not have been more pleased with it. Very moist (can't stand turkey or chicken breast when roasted) and a lovely flavour. Lasted us two days and sandwiches as well (only two of us).

I've not got around to cooking mine yet, as I bought a large fresh turkey crown christmas eve for 99p, so had that instead.
