    'tis the OH's birthday soon and he has indicated that he's like a meatmincer/ saausage maker .....I've had a hunt about and found this one...
    TOOL-GENIUSŪ 1200W S/S MEAT GRINDER STAINLESS STEEL ELECTRIC MINCER SAUSAGE MAKER

    Has anyone got one or have a better one for me to look at. I can't afford silly money and haven't room for something huge .........

      I suppose there must have been a finer mesh for sausage meat.

        There are a few vintage ones on ebay varying between Ģ20 and Ģ45.
        Dependimg on the rust..but he may enjoy using an authentic 'machine' ???

          lol Nicos......he wants to make sausages and mince etc without any additives

          I've looked at the old fashioned manual type but they seem hard to clean and rust if not oiled ..can't chuck 'em in the dishwasher either...

            We have one of these:

            Eddingtons Mincer Pro, Red: Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home

            It's manual but we love it! It all unscrews and all the individual parts and it can all go in the dish washer (this was a very high priority for us!).

            The only bit that doesn't come out spotless is the bit on the left of the photo where the cogs are as you can't open this up.

            You can get a sausage making attachment for it too but the reviews aren't fabulous and it's currently not available on Am@zon.

            The mincer itself is great though!

                ( hmmm...tis my birthday coming up in a few weeks time too!!! )

                Most sausages over here are high in nitrates- and those which are low in nitrates are VERY expensive ( over Ģ1 each)

                ....bet I could easily make some yummy selections of flavours and freeze them ...

                        I'm going to see if any of the local butchers will sell/give me some from time ti time. If so, I think I'm going to ask for a sausage machine for my birthday too!

                          I like my sausages without skins and I always used to peel off the skins of shop-bought bangers. Then I bought a cheap hand mincer from L*k*l**d, so now I make my own sausages by mincing the meat and shaping by hand. They don't fall apart when you cook them. To freeze I wrap each sausage in a piece of clingfilm, then put them in a freezer bag.

                          I used to think sausage making was one of those arcane things where you need secret ingredients and such, but all it takes is good quality pork, salt, and pepper for a basic sausage, then anything else you fancy adding to make different flavours.

                            I'm making sausages as 24 feet of hog casing has just arrived today. I mince in the food processor and fill the casings using either a disposable piping bag or a plastic funnel. I've made them like this for years so never got around to getting a proper machine.

                            Phil...my skins are from either the local butcher or salted ones from Butchers Supplies via the gift of Amazon. I've yet to find an suitable organic one, and I currently experimenting with collagen so I can make frankfurter style-ones.

                              daft question, but important for us hobbits. Beef or pork casings? When shopping, we have to look for the latter. Can't beat a well made sausage casserole...
