  • Garden fork advice

    Hi everyone
I have used quite few tool around the plot and cheap or not cheap I can live with any spade, hoe or rake of any quality but I fail with spade. One snapped in half, another one bend the pointed bit and another one kind curved it because of a root. Is one of the tool I use a lot for the digging and I only use the spade for shifting soil. I was looking online at different type and brands but seem that no matter what there are quite few bad review even of the 25/30pound range one. So where better I can get advice then here? One thing to considered is that I'm quite rough with it and if I hit a stone or a root underneath is gone. Thanks

Keen to see responses to this. Was using father in laws fork on the weekend and he was saying how excellent and very old it is and how they don't make them like they did then. After 20 mins I broke it

I now need to buy two

I gave two long handled forks (don't use them that much now I've got the plot under control as use hand tools more). One is an old women's border fork which was a gift when I first got my own home. Nits stainless steel and now has very bent prongs as I've used it for heavy work that it isn't really built for. Still can be useful though and is a nice manageable size for getting between things. I also have a more heavy duty one which I think is a Wilkinsons model which was used to dig most of the plot. Prongs still all pretty straight and all in place. No idea how much it cost but somewhere between cheapo and stupidly expensive.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
