    Bulk Pot Suppliers

    Hi,

    Just wondering where people turn to for buying pots? A couple of years ago I bought a load online as it worked out cheaper than buying in the 10's I could find locally. Only I can't recall or find the details of where I got them!

    I am mainly after small/medium size pots to pot seedlings on, and, trays to hold them in for portability. I tend to prefer square pots. I am probably looking to buy a few hundred of 2 - 3 sizes.

    I don't need any huge pots as I've got a few hundred Mozzer's flower buckets for my chillis and peppers etc.

    I bought quite a lot on eBay - from what was probably a nursery, or a contractor, who clearly got lots of plants in in that size, and had no use from them after potting on / planting.

    I have bought bulk from J.F.C.Monro in the West country, but unless you are putting to get a decent sized order (or live locally) I doubt the carriage price will be worthwhile. Ignore the carriage costs on their website, better to phone them up and ask what they can do, they came up with a number of creative ways to ship my orders that didn't involve the cost of a whole pallet each time!!

    I also buy from LBS - with whom I have a trade account. I reckon you just need to fill i the form to get a trade account; their trade site does have some things not on their retail site, but in the main if you buy regular quantities is the same price as the retail site ... so only makes a difference when buying in reasonable bulk. Plenty of choice of pot sizes and types at least although their website is shocking - all the sensible information such as diameter at top & bottom of a pot, and height, is missing from 99% of the products ...

      A quick goggle brought up this site, David, thirty squid for 1,500 x 7cm pots delivered - 2p each, can't be bad. And they do carry trays for them too. (Oops, forgot to say, you have to add VAT to that)

        A ha, the H Smith ones are the brand I had last time - though I suspect I paid a premium as I did not get them direct and only a few hundred of each size. Pity I don't know a few more people locally who would do a group buy! I could do with 7cm/9cm and 11cm really.

          Why not try contacting local garden clubs and allotment groups and see if they would be interested in sharing a bulk buy?

            Ta, I might just do that.

            I think this thread is a signal that perhaps I grow a bit too much!

              One of our local garden centres sells large bags of secondhand ones very cheaply and trays. They pot things on before selling. Do any of yours do a similar things? Car boot sales can be good too.

                They look thermo-formed? Nothing wrong with that, but they can be a one-use type flimsy pot and for re-use might be better to get injection moulded ones (which will probably only be 20% or so more on price)

                My local garden centre has a huge bin outside for "recycle pots" - drop off / help yourself system. They have another for recycle shoes. That's it! No idea why those two choices only!

                  I will have a look when I go past the GC next and am exploring a few other avenues. Will report back any success.

                    Not very architectural, but do the job and cheaper if you buy a lot.

                      try amazon just bought 100 7 cm pots for £2.50 and free delivery . they arrived within 2 days
