  • And the winner is....

Today, on the allotment I thought about something that I must ask you lot on-vine, but do you think I can remember what it was?

There's a prize of a kiss from Bean (for those attending Grapestock) for the person that reminds me of what it was.

Beans is cheatin - I phoned you about those. How did you know I'd harvested courgettes?

However, I have just remembered what I was going to ask - but I did remember whilst watching Sara Beany, though I will glady get Bean to award you a prize.

        My question:

Is anyone else growing "Poppet" peas? They're a HSL variety. I grew 8-10 plants from the seeds provided and they came and went, so I saved the seeds and didn't eat a single one (well, maybe one to try). The plants all died off, but whilst at the plot today I noticed that they seemed to have revived. There is another plant there which has produced some small pods (the name Poppet is very apt for this pea variety).

Just wondered if anyone else is growing them, and if they have had a similar experience with these?

Anyway - if you get them early enough, peas and beans can revive if they think that they haven't produced a next generation; so you might just get another few peas from them.

My peas were all really pathetic because of the dry weather (with the exception of Gladstone) and looked like they were dying off, but then the rain came and they all burst into life and started flowering like mad again! Bladdy things were just about to get ripped up and the space given to brassicas instead, and now I'm having to hunt for somewhere to put me kale, PSB and brussels
