  • Why did I bother!

As the kids were running riot - school shut again today - I decided to take them for a walk in the fields. Met neighbour on the way who insisted I borrow some wellies as my troosers were gonna get a wee bit wet. The wellies fitted lovely - until I tried to tuck my troosers in! LOL!! Now you know why I dont have any cos I canna get any to fit me thick calves! She then brought out some snow boots which I managed to strugle into. They felt abit wierd as they were two sizes too big in the feet even though snug on the ole legs! Anyways off we toddled only for Son to start whining that he was cold no sooner than we had been in the field 5 minutes! - mind you snow was deeper than his wellies! So we returned back 10 minutes later - not at all refreshed and having to collect/return boots!

Anyone know where I can get some wellies that will fit my super ginormous calves?

I have managed to get mine into giraffe print style 'briars' from wilkos for a tenner. I normally buy really cheap ones and immediately cut 3 inches off the top.

OH was going to treat me to some posh wellies from millets for xmas but I couldn't get my legs in any of them and didn't want to cut down good ones lol

I have the opposite problem - narrow calves that mean all boots hover miles from my actual leg!

When I find some that fit, I always want to buy three pairs! I love the look of a well-fitted boot (not talking wellies anymore here), and mine are always irritatingly a bit gapey. Wellies just flap around freely. My new pair of wellies are actually from Oasis, as they have a 'fashion fit' so are nicely narrower.

So you see, there are plus points to filling a boot properly -good luck with finding them!
