Our England is a garden, and such gardens are not made
By singing-'Oh how beautiful!" and sitting in the shade,
While better men than we go out and start their working lives
At grubbing weeds from gravel paths with broken dinner-knives. ~ Rudyard Kipling

Hmmm...I can't find a picture of a dead man orchid.

I was leaning towards the soldier orchid, orchis militaris but not totally convinced.

Another, a day or so earlier.

If you think its a soldier orchid that narrows down the locations somewhat!

              Distribution
Orchis militaris occurs in Europe as far south as Spain. To the north its range extends into Siberia. In the UK it is confined to two sites in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire and has been subject to numerous conservation projects since being rediscovered in 1947 after being thought to have become extinct.

So I'm guessing you've been to Siberia.

                  That made me chuckle.

I'd love to know what this scrubby little plant with both pink and white flowers is:

Bees liked it. There was a really nice black and white one that went a bazillion miles an hour so this is all I got:
