  • What clever things/tricks does your dog/cat go?

Dexter always knows when its a Saturday morning. I think he knows that if OH goes to work and leaves me in bed (even if its only for 1/4 hr) that its a Saturday.
As soon as I get up and dressed, he starts "twipeing" (sp?) and crying to go out for walkies. (The only morning I take him out - his Auntie Margaret does it all the other days).
He has his certain route he has to go - I've tried cutting the walk short, to no avail!
I reckon hes clever knowing that its a Saturday morning.

What do your dogs/cats do that's special?

PS Forgot to mention that Dexter knows the meaning of certain words - Walkies - and also if I spelt it out letter for letter; Motor Car; and Grandma.

My parrot knows when Mr Sheds is home, 2 mins before he comes through the door. He goes to the far corner of his cage and plays up because he knows dad is home to play with him.

It's a different time each day, and he doesn't do it for every car that pulls up either.

On weekends when we arn`t both working I allways get up first. After OH gets up and has had his first cup of tea of the day and his first 2 cigarettes, both of the dogs start pacing around the living room. When I go to put my shoes on Storm starts to jump around and spirit starts to make a wooing noise. When I stand up Storm goes into the kitchen and looks at the draw where thier leads are kept, as soon as I go into the kitchen they both go balistic. Barking and pawing at the door to go out. It only happens when I go to put my shoes on and we are both here.
Also when we had our cat Crazy, the neighbours would say they knew when I was coming home in my car as he would get up from where he was sleeping and walk to the bottom of the drive a few minutes before I came up the road. The strange thing is I come home at different times each day. Storm is the same I pull up infront of the house and she is already looking out of the window at me.

Daisy our rescue dog sings along to 'how much is that doggy in the window?' she barks at the appropriate time! You can also get her to 'talk' by altering the inflection in your voice, it is like a mixture of yelps, whines and barking, she really does sound like she is talking.
On the silly side though she barks at the rugby on t.v as she thinks they are playing with her ball! When the ball goes off screan she tries to go around the back to see where it has gone.

Ludo knows when it is dinner time - he often reminds me that it is 5.30!! He is also brill at knowing when Madmax is on the final stretch of the way home (so long as he is driving the big V8)

In the good weather our cat (ancient rescued Siamese) comes for a walk with me and the dog. She miaows with every other step unless I slow down to her chosen pace. She's royalty you know, and royalty don't run lol!

She also tells you what she wants to eat; hold up milk bottle - no response, tin of Tuna - no response, fresh egg - climbs up your leg, yelling. Next time it will be the tuna or the milk.

Also, she loves 'proper' food (won't eat tinned/pouched cat food, just dry). On the rare occasion we have a take-away she's there scrounging like a dog. She likes Chinese and adores Indian, and will also get under your feet when there's a roast on the go. She's not daft.

Boo knows on the rare occasions that its bath time (she hates it). We don't tell her or act differently but she will go down to her bed under the kitchen table and curl into the tightest ball that she can so that one of us has to pick her up, all 35kg of her and carry her the 4 flights of stairs to our bathroom!!
While the carrier recovers, the other does bathing duties. I reckon making us carry her up is her way of letting her displeasure be known!!!

Dopey boy Max will trot up the stairs and let you do what you like!

Our old fella, when he was younger, would sit and watch you run the bath, then leg-it. I'd call him back and point to the bath telling him to get in, and he would. He'd just hop over the side and stand there with a really pi**ed-off expression until I'd finished and pulled out the plug. Then he'd jump out, and I'd wrap him in towels to get the worst off, then he'd explode and run round the house and garden like a nutter until he was dry - I'd then spend hours cleaning up lol!
