Oh no, really? Just looked at the forecast and it says overnight 6 degrees and calm and no rain for next few days....umm, perhaps AI's weather isn't very good! And I've just put thinner rugs on my girlies!

Patchninja you little monkey, stop winding up Mrs TK , she worries enough about her babies as it is , she will have me up at midnight checking if they are warm enough!

I told her April fool's day has been and gone.

My seeds and seedlings are still tucked up keeping warm, far to early - but also far too wet - to plant them out yet.

Interestingly, I've left all my veggies (various onions, perpetual and ordinary leeks, even mache) out over winter, uncovered except by leaves and snow and they are looking fine and tasting excellent.

I'm keeping the seeds/seedlings in for a while further yet, if it gets cold or remains wet they'll either check or rot off.

I'm lucky to be in a mild place - right on the sea. It makes a big difference. Even a few km inland and it gets much colder in the winter, but also much hotter in the summer. It only gets hot here if there's a heatwave everywhere else
Mrs TK, I'm very sorry if I worried you. I hope your babies are toasty.

Hi Patchninja, my girlies were fine, but they do also have a huge nice straw wall-lined field shelter and they now have their spring thin rugs on and this morning were snug and warm. Looks like the temperature is now warming up in the day, just still a bit chilly at night. We still have all the seedlings in the polytunnel which are doing quite well. We've got a few things outside which are now coming up, radish and roquette and the things that we planted back in autumn are doing well i.e. broad beans and garlic, the broad beans did have a bit of damage with the frost, but most of them survived.

                    Roll on summer!

I think we have a taster this morning of things to come!

I'll be hanging my washing on the line for the first time in months!

we've had the coldest winter that i've known since we bought the house bar one (19 years ago for the house - the first winter was very cold but we were only here for one week of it - only moved here full time almost 4 years ago) and it has kept my broad beans small but the leeks were great and some of the chard has started to grow again and the rocket and mxed leaves survived well and are now rampant. Killed the peas tho.
Onions were slow but are now off and running......
have things planted already - lettuces, tomatoes, parsnips (all 5 of them)
been really warm last few days..
