  • Urgent, anyone work for the Post Office - help!

    Hi

Just wondering is anyone works for the PO. Have sent an item for Sat special delivery by 1pm. Just used their 'track and trace' and says delivery is Monday? Yet says tomorrow Sat on my receipt? Is the website not in real time? I can't tell you now but this is soooooo important to us and I don't know who else to ask because tried every PO number, email etc and there is no-one there. If the documents don't get there tomorrow then it will be so upsetting!

    Please try and help me!

Hi, I work for Royal Mail but am on A/L at the mo.
Special deliveries are not guaranteed to be delivered on Sat unless you pay extra for guaranteed saturday delivery, if you have paid extra there should be no problem with the item being delivered to you in the morning.
The track & trace service on the web site isn't very good, if you phone your local delivery office in the morning they can access the internal trace and trace which has much more info on it.
    Hope this helps

If you have sent a special next day delivery item and you have the receipt which says so - should you lose out financially or otherwise I suggest you put a claim in pronto if the docs don't arrived as stated.

You pay a considerable premium for this delivery service and you expect it to arrive as stated/promised. You have it in writing and if they fail to deliver they are in breach of contract.

I believe the blurb is 'guaranteed next day delivery' - if you didn't believe it you wouldn't bother to pay. They screw enough out of us anyway so do make a claim if you are embarassed by a Monday delivery.

      Sorry cannot help any further.

        Hi Coomber

I paid extra £2 on top of normal £4.60 delivery. Posted 14th (Thur) yesterday (after collection 5.20pm) PO lady gave me a receipt for £4.60 with a guaranteed del on Sat and a separate receipt of £2 for extra delivery on Sat. She did say she forgot the £2 stamp if this makes sense but I have been given receipt with original receipt saying £4.60 and guaranteed sat delivery plus extra receipt saying £2.

Do you think it will get there? Cannot tell you how important this is!

        Thanks for replying!

As you have paid for Sat delivery the item will be delivered
If you are still worried you could try phoning your local delivery office before 8am (when the posties start their deliveries) to check the item is there and is being sent out with the postie. You should be able to get this number from directory enq or Royal Mail customer services 08457 740 740
Or if you check the trace and trace again in the morning it should say, on delivery or delivered, then you know the item is with either the postie or the recipient

The P.O put a saturday delivery sticker on the item (this is what the delivery office looks for) so the two receipts won't be an issue.
It really would be worth phoning customer services in the morning just to put your mind at rest, it's what they get paid for!!

Stupid, stupid PO! I checked this morning and it will be Mon delivery. Neither the main PO customer services or the local PO where I posted the letter will admit responsibility, both blaming the other!!!!! I have spent over 2 hours on the internet and phone trying to sort out this mess only to be told by an ignorant PO customer service rep (stupid woman) that I can have my £2 extra surcharge back. I explained it wasn't the money but the importance of these documents being received by the recipient today, she was sooooo rude! I have managed to agree with the recipient of the documents to fax some of them across which mean't lots of rushing round to get the forms and filling them in again! At least they were far nicer in helping me. Fuming

Take them to court,it will partially compensate you,but it will also ,HOPEFULLY, make them get their act together, send copies of your letters to your MP as well they might add a bit of weight to your cause.

Keep a check of ALL your costs - fax, petrol, bus fares, postage, paper, envelopes etc - and if this results in the delay of the '2b' bit of your handle - then sue them for any losses or stress caused by promise failure.
