Are they sure it wasn't HMS Troutbridge?
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

At least it shows our subs are fairly undetectable.

Scarey yes, but still made me giggle - the thought of the whole Atlantic to cruise around in and they manage to bump into each other - all the technology in the world at their fingertips and they weren't aware of each other - just so ridiculous!
Life is too short for drama & petty things!
So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!

A couple of tins of Isopon , a big hammer to knock out the scratch and a gallon of paint and the Insurance company will never know.
Wonder what fully comp for a sub would be ? would you have to have named drivers? Bet you have to put it in a garage at night though.

No its not...you have totally the wrong end of the stick.

The main job of a sub is not to be found. Thats what the technoclogy is there for. And it worked.

                            Naval explanation today quietly amusing.
There are a limited number of places in the Atlantic that are quiet, deep and large.
These are what the ballistic missiles subs like to hide in.
UK, US & French subs are very quiet and cruise around submerged with their sonar (underwater radar) in passive mode (listen only no pings broadcast to reflect back).
Russian & Chinese subs ar relatively noisy and UK subs in passive mode can hear them a long way off.
US subs are very quiet, but the Yanks talk to us about roughly where their subs are and we tell them roughly where ours are and we agree between us to keep apart.
French subs are very quiet and they don't talk to us about where they are.

The French sub was the only sub at sea at the same time as ours that we might not hear and as it lurked in the same sort of places and went back to the western approaches of the Channel the same as our sub, so it "really was the only thing in the Atlantic we were likely to hit."
Always thank people who have helped you immediately, as they may not be around to thank later.
