  • Are these Shabby Chic?

These are two aprons of an order of five for a new tea shop. The client ordered pale green & shabby chic, and left the details up to me. I'm not happy with the colours but I'm not sure if that's just me. I'll send them off (ironed first) and hope for the best. What do you think?

I think they're rather pretty Jules and a bit retro, so I suppose they would fit the shabby chic mode. Well done.

I've never understood what "shabby chic" was supposed to mean! However, whatever your client thought she wanted, I'm sure she'll be delighted with those.

The pink looks a bit livid under the flash of the camera, it's quite pale in proper light. At the moment, I just hate all of them - I'm not singling out the pink

They're nice but I wouldn't call them shabby

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I'm not sure they're shabby enough.

They're lovely and fit into the 'Cath Kidson' school of retro chic perfectly, but no not shabby. I think Shabby chic can only be assigned to furniture or furnishing anyway. I'm sure they'll be pleased with them - they should have been a lot more specific if not.

Don't iron them Jules, that'll make them look "shabbier"!

I think retro was more what the client meant. These days Shabby Chic is quite an umbrella phrase, and I think you're right, Lizzy, it does apply to furniture more.

I'm worried that they are a little childish. My first choice was plainer fabrics for the pockets, picking out one of the colours of the spots on the green for each apron. I got talked out of that by a friend who usually has an eye for these things.

I need to give them another coat of stain resistant spray, and then I'll post them off on Wednesday and see what happens.

They fit perfectly with the idea of Shabby Chic as defined by e-bay

oooh forgot to say they're gorgeous
