  • Is there a court in the country would convict?!

I’m just back from a week’s holiday. Had a great time!

I’m just waiting for the Council to finish splitting and clearing a half-allotment and have looooooads of stuff in pots ready to plant. Before I left I watered everything in sight – very well – and asked my son to remember to water it during the week. (You know where this is going, don’t you?)

    He didn’t.

Fortunately most of it is salvageable. Except for all the salad stuff, which is dead; but I can plant some more of those. The beans are a bit peely-wally (as they say in this neck of the woods), most of the basil revived, surpirsingly. The courgette decided that it had better flower. The flowers I’d planted (chrysants, scaboius, gypsophyla (sp?), nasturtiums and cornflowers) have shot up, and one or two of the cornflowers and gypsophyla have also decided to flower. The rest seems to be OK. I think.

He’s 6’ 3” so I’ll have to climb on a chair to strangle him - but I'll cope!

Rant over. Glad to get it off my chest.

Well if I was on the jury the verdict would definitely be justifiable homicide!

I should think you'd be well justified in 'forgetting' to do any of his washing, cooking etc for at least a week...
Tis very frustrating being forced to rely on someone else for watering duties, but at least you can lavish plenty of care on them now

Things decide to flower because they think they've had it - one last chance to pass the genes on! I hope you get most of it back to life. Salads grow quickly in this weather so you can always bang a few more in.

That's just kids basketcase. There seems to be something wrong with their heads. But they do seem to get it on a bit straighter once they pass 30. Once they pass 40 they turn into real people. I'm sure we were just the same.

Kids and FiLs. I left mine in charge last year when we went to Singapore for a month.

Rather than water little and often, he decided to do it all on the one day, and left everything standing in water. 80% of my plants drowned.

I had a wonderful time, thanks. Went down to Stratford-upon-Avon and indulged in all the RSC plays and (too!) many cream teas

Thanks for the offer - I've PM'd you. I'm just down the road from you in Garthdee and used to have friends in Auchenblae but they've moved.

Alas, he didn't and I don't hold out any hope at all that he ever will. He's one of those high-IQ dopes.

Fortunately for him, he can fix my computer.

Even more fortunately, I'm calmer now...
