OK, so I think realistically one of the first steps I need to take is interpreting what the hell you lot are all going on about.

So, can I have a list of definitions of gardening terminology from you please? Terms such as ''chitting'', ''regular sowing'', and ''bolt'' etc.

OK, it's not really that bad but it would be useful if you created a glossary for me ;o)

    Hi Pidge
If you do a search on the vine for the specific word you dont understand, then I am sure everything will become clearer!

If you can't find it with the Search button Pidge, just ask! Good Luck.

Don't be afraid to ask, Pidge - this forum is all about sharing - some questions newbies can answer, some are for the real academics - and some are for people with an opinion.

regular sowing isn't on this list, depends on context, but assume it means sowing a few seeds, then in a few weeks sowing some more, rather than sowing all in one go and all matures at the same time - done with things like lettuce and peas. Some seeds don't need this as they continue maturing over the season.

Yes, that's right. I knew what it kind of meant but couldn't quite work out how to sow more on top of some already settled if it's in containers?

Thanks to everyone else who's suggested asking. What a friendly board! ;o)

                  Wise words.

I guess it stands out more because I've been bullied on an other forum before. But that's in the past now ;o)

Don't sow them on top, either leave a space in the container, or grow in a separate area/container. Can either grow on in the other container, or transfer across to your other container once you remove a mature plant.

Yep vine is very friendly, people may have quite strong views at times, but not in a threatening way

Hi Pidge and welcome to the vine, where in Oxon are you?
                              I am out Banbury way.
This is a great forum with lovely kind people who have helped me in so many ways.

I think the worst that happens here is some of us get sent to the' norty step' where we eat chocs, drink wine and with a jolly pat on the back welcome each other to the 'step'
An example would be mentioning CHRISTMAS out of season so guess I am on my there now then.....but I was only using it as an example m'lord!

It is a lovely forum .....enjoy!
