  • Taking advantage of the bad weather - Challenge weekend

    Right boys and girls.

I am setting a household spring [ha!] clean or get it done challenge for this weekend.

    I am going to:
Tidy the dining room [AKA my germination temple/ebay store/office/study area] and put all the unnecessary stuff away/bin/compost it.

Sow the necessary seeds for our themed seed trays

    Draft out my next essay.

    By the end of tomorrow.

Anyone else want to take advantage; post your weekend challenge here, and updates on how you got on/are getting on with it. This thread will be closed on Monday morning so you only have a small window of opportunity.

Ooh I'm going to find coal and haul it home like the cave goddess that I am I will also clean up my photo library (1000s), have all the ironing finished and today my mother wants prune juice and fig biscuits. So that's a two mile walk into town, walk three miles up to mothers and two miles back to mine across fields and streams. All whilst lugging some coal for at least tonight! Gulp...

We already has a mass clear-out in the pseudo-spring of a few weeks ago, and I had a batch-cooking session yesterday. So my only challenge this weekend is to get through the laundry (in the bloomin' freezing utility room ), get to the allotment AGM tomorrow morning without sleeping-in, and read another book (for pleasure )

One bin bag's worth of 'stuff' is now in the composter/bin. Desk tidy. Mr Z is sat with a pile of filing to sort out.

Just having lunch and a cuppa then I'm sowing these seeds [plus the last 2 week's Random seeds].

Then it's onto the essay. The biggie. Sigh.

Well been out and trudged through the snow to get in milk etc. Been up to a friend' home to get her milk in. Need to sort out a grant application. Sow tom seeds and sweetpeas. Make a big pot of stovies. Then eat some of the stovies

I might use the last of the raspberries up and make some wine...
              only might.

I could be tidying the desk or sorting some books out for the local church's table top sale...

My gin store has been taken over by bottles of vodka.

I intend to recycle the empty bottles.

I still haven't found coal. I took the car out and went to Stoke Tesco instead. DAB radio and iPhone dock from £99 to £40 - daughter's birthday present and three VC bargain electric propagators. BAZINGA!

We've had to stay away from home for the last two weeks while some very messy work has been carried out at home. First weekend back and we have a lovely shiny new bathroom and a new central heating system but we also have a massive mess!

                    So to do this weekend:

Get up straight with washing (nearly done)

Massive amount of cleaning... so much dust everywhere!
                    Clean kitchen (done)
                    Clean bathroom
                    Clean H,S & Landing
Clear out living room and then clean

Freecycle some stuff (one thing left to be collected!)
                    Ebay some stuff (done)
See if it's worth selling some CD's/DVD's via a well known bird based trade web site (started)
                    File a load of paperwork
                    Sow some more seeds
Pot on the toms under the lights
Try and get a car load of cardboard down to the plot (I suspect it will disintegrate on the way between the car and the shed!)
Close some old credit card accounts

Was doing quite well but feeling oddly unmotivated now... shattered!

Far less of a challenge but want to fit in!
Lunch and trip to the GC with friends!
Catching up with the Neverwhere thingy on the radio

Well, my day started off fine - did the dining room but...

Ended up watching 3 episodes of House and one of Elementary - and then falling asleep on the sofa. Then Mr Z went to get me stuff as I wanted to make a carb free cheesecake, so that is now in the oven. I did wash up a load of plant pots ready for the sowing extravaganza and brought the compost in to warm.

Still got tomorrow for the essay though. Will feedback on the cheesecake laters.

It just so happened that this weekend was going to be a challenge anyway.
We are having a new kitchen and floor installed the beginning of next week......so
This morning after breakfast we lifted all the old flooring. Emptied all the kitchen presses. Pulled out the old washing machine which was on its last legs. Took delivery of a new one which is now in the sitting room waiting to be plumbed in. Emptied the freezer into the second freezer in OH shed and crammed all the pots and pans into the greenhouse until the invasion is over.
I would never have believed how much stuff a kitchen could hold until I had to empty it out and find a place for everything until all the work is finished.
We are now well and truly ready for our bed.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Well, I wrote the first half of my essay - and we cleaned and photographed the camper. And did a whole host of other things like Origami pots. So all in all, a successful weekend.
