  • Sunrise/Sunset Gadget

Now I no longer need my countdown to the shortest day gadget (and a countdown to the longest would depress me because it means the year is on the way out!)....

Does anyone know of a gadget or widget etc that shows the sunrise and sunset times in the UK, ideally for my area so I can be really nerdy?

If you Google "sunrise and sunset" you will get a list of sites that give you worldwide lists of data, some, like this one, you can print off or put it in a spreadsheet:

I think most diaries supply the information - but you can google for anything.

I have a little doobry on my desktop wot tells me info like that.
I don't know if you can get the same thing for Windows too, but I would imagine so.
              I use Linux.

You can get the sunrise/sunset times off the BBC weather, just put in your postcode and it will give the local times

BBC - Weather Centre - 5 Day Forecast in Celsius for Milton Keynes, United Kingdom
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

That's the sort of thing I was looking for! Thanks for all the responses. I know it was a bit nerdy, and I can look out the window. I have a clock on the wall that tells me the tide tables (needed around here for walking - you have to be careful). But in the same way I loved seeing '2 days, 3 hours, 45 minutes and 52 seconds to the shortest day' on my desktop, I wanted to see that tomorrow, the sunrise is 2 minutes earlier than today.

Perhaps I should get chickens - I evidently have too much time on my hands.

Well I searched through all the Vista Gadgets sites that I could find last night Nell, but I didn't find any that were just sunset/sunrise related. Mostly just weather report ones. And a lot of the best ones were linked with US sites so not sure they'd be any use anyway
                    Soz hon, I did try.

Oooh ta for looking Sarz, I had tried but came up with the same as you. The only one I thought worked didn't recognise the lat/long because it wasn't in the US. Ah well, have to go back to

                      1) poking head out of covers
                      2) peering at calendar
                      3) deciding to stay in bed because it's still dark and I can't see the calendar because I can't find my glasses.
