Just wondering if it would be a good idea to have a section for smallholding questions ? I know this is a fruit and veg forum well 90% but im shaw that other things that relate to smallholdings do fit into this life style?????

I suppose when it comes down to it GYO can't be all things to all people.

I have found a couple of related mag sites which may be of interest to you where particular questions re husbandry of larger animals may be asked/answered

Country Smallholding - for smallholders and poultry keepers - Home

    and

Smallholder news, Smallholding, Poultry, Alpacas, chickens, poultry, How to buy, horticulture, land

both have a forum and the 2nd seems to be much smaller at the moment.

To me smallholding IS grow your own taken to its logical, large scale, conclusion.
However the main emphasis of the mag which runs this seems to be veg, fruit etc. So realistically it wouldn't really go. Chooks sneak in under the wire as so many people now keep them in their back gardens or allotments.
My heart says I think it would be good to have a smallholding section on here because its my first/prefered resource, and it would be great to have access to my trusted advisors on livestock issues as well.
But my head says there are already smallholding mags out there with forums and it would be better to look on a dedicated forum for livestock and farm/smallholding crops. They are a very different issue. Also I think there might be some who wouldn't be very happy with the very graphic livestock advice that would be inevitably need to be included.

Quite a lot of livestock matters have managed to sneak in at times......
Maybe an extra page in "off the plot"? Perhaps you could call it 'furry friends' or something?
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
