    strange kitten behaviour

    Hi all,

    I am looking for some ideas. Cleo is crying everytime OH goes near the kitchen sink. Im not sure why? She is the same with me but to a lesser degree. It is very odd, Im not concerned but I am curious as to why she has developed this thing about crying when we are by the sink.

    Has she ever had a drink from the tap? ( either offered or helping herself??)
    I knew someone whose cat would only drink from the tap eventually!

          She has managed a few times, she climbs the drawer handles! She's still too small to be able to jump that high. I have wandered if its that she wants to be up there as she cant see and doesnt know whats up there

            It's what cats do - kitchen sink...kitchen table...the sound of plates, cutlery, tin openers, smell of roasts...it's all the right acoustics... They have a radar for these sort of noises...and you're making all the right noises HA!

              One of my cats was besotted with running tap water. She used to ambush the water as it was trickling out. She also learned to lick across the bottom of the tap - at which point another small trickle would emerge - clever kitty!
              Cats like sinks.
              Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

                  My kitty he only drinks from the tap most of the time. She could be asking for that. He cries when he wants a drink. Or if it is because she is curious you could lift her onto your shoulder and sit her there so she could see?

                    I think its curiosity to be honest, she hates running water. Ever since she jumped into my boiling hot cup of tea and I had to wash her she stays well away. She sees the water and says "nope, not having that again" haha

                      Do you fill her feed bowl near the sink? She could just be expecting to be fed.

                        One of my boys drinks from a glass!!!
                        oh and the odd watering can (care taken here with plant feed etc)

                          Similar to Polly I was thinking maybe you stand near the sink when you're opening the cat food? Our cat comes up to me at the sink because she thinks she might get fed & runs after me to the sink when we've eaten to see if there are any leftovers she might be able to get her paws on before the dishes go in the bowl!

                            If she's scared of the running water she could be worrying that you are doing something dangerous.......
                            Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

                              Ours do that too. It's because they think you're making a brew and therefore going to open the fridge, so they might get lucky and get milk or a treat
