  • A Story and a Thank you!

Are you sitting comfortably? I want to share something with you. Its not a sob story
Seven years ago, several major things happened - my husband died, my garden doubled in size and a tree fell onto the greenhouse. It all got a bit too much to handle and, for most of the time, I stepped back and let the garden grow out of control. In fact, there are some little corners of the garden - like where the GH was, that I've hardly set foot in for years.
This also explains why I joined the Vine in 2006 but didn't post on here until about 18 months ago - I fell out of love with gardening
Thanks to the Grapevine and all you lovely Grapes, I want my garden back. I'm jealous of your plots and all the things you grow and cook. You've given me the kick up the rear end that I needed and this year - I'm grabbing this garden by the throat and giving it a good shake. By the end of the year it will be unrecognisable - I promise
Today, I hacked my way into the site of the greenhouse and picked up some more broken glass. This is how it looks

If you'll indulge me. I'll post a few progress reports, much as those of you with allotments do, as today, I really do feel as if I'm taking on a new untended plot.
    Thanks for listening

I expect it'll be cathartic, therapeutic.

It's a bit like The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It was there all the time......just waiting until someone rediscovered it.

It is a bit Secret Garden-ish. There are 2 paved areas (one where the GH was) and another where the best views are over Cardiff to Weston and they're both overgrown. I've been looking at it and turning my back for too long - I want my garden back

Clearly, your first job is with the camera. We are all ears. I mean, eyes.

Overgrown is probably the very best way to see over here.......but, I guess, if you're seeing us from a distance it's possibly the best way

Well, I was hoping for "the best views are over Cardiff to Weston", but I guess I'll have to settle for "imagine behind these brambles the best views are over Cardiff to Weston"

The very best views don't contain Weston.......!
