  • Sprained my ankle :(

    Am so annoyed with myself.

Managed all the way to school in the snow, ice and slush this am, dropped Bluebelle off, only to twist my ankle 5 mins later. I had stepped aside to let some people pass, after one of them had skidded off of the kerb and I had said "You OK?" They didnt reply, just pushed past, nearly knocking Bashfull Bill over so I put my hand out to save him just as the ice I was treading on gave way and I lost my balance and my ankle twisted over with a crack. I exlaimed "ouch" (cos it bloody hurt), they looked back but didnt stop to help or even ask if I was ok!

BB said "comon Mummy" and started tugging me cos he was getting cold so after a few minutes to recover we carried on our way. Of course progress was then much slower as I was limping and having to stop every now and then and poor love when we got to playschool he was frozen and really upset. They wouldnt let us in till boss arrived at 9:10 (normally doesnt open till 9:15) and he cried the whole 10 mins we were stood there. I tried everything to cheer him or warm him up but by the time we got in he was inconsolable and I had to leave him sobbing his heart out I rang later and he has settled.

So I have been with it up most of the day and friends have gone to collect kids for me thank goodness as couldnt have done that 3 mile round trip again and didnt fancy digging the car out just to risk the roads! The worse thing is my foot hasnt warmed up all day and I am now a bit concerned as I wonder if the blue is bruising after all but perhaps the circulation has been affected?

I would suggest a trip to the doctor to see if it is okay.

    Hope you feel better soon.

Instant bruising often indicates a fracture- I'd 'nip' into A&E if it's too sore to hobble on

Let us know how you get on- hope it recovers quickly!

Just been ringing round the neighbours and cannot find anyone to take me so dont know what I am going to do. Joes partner (down the road) is into netball so may see if she can pop up when she gets home from her school.

Imagine not checking to see if your okay. Some people need a smack Best go and get your ankle checked out. Then when you are back home put your feet up and rest your ankle.

Ouch!I would agree with Nicos that the instantbruising could be a sign of fracture....whenn DD did her arm last year that was the Drs giveawy clue that it was broken!.....might not be,but if you can get yourself up to A&E I think it'd be worth getting itchecked!

A good way of checking if the 'ankle bone' at the side is broken is to gently run your finger over the bone and there will be a tender spot on the bone.
Of course there are other bones which could have cracked- but sometimes you can hear a ligament 'go' too.
                        Do get to hosp FD.

Well- that's one way of getting out of cooking a Valentines meal!!!!

Sorry to hear about your ankle hunny, sprains can turn into nasty things, so either calk your doctor so he COMES to you or phone an ambulance, that way you wont have to worry about getting car out, plus if you do have an accident, your in the right hands, plus you will also get seen quicker at the hospital.

GET IT SEEN TOO or else?!
