How do you sort your seeds? I need to have a sort out ready for next year. Do you sort by month of sowing or alphabetically ?

I sort by month then each month gets sorted alphabetically, once that months past I check if anything needs to be moved along for continuous sowings.

month - if something (lettuce, carrots) can be sown successionally, I will split a pack up and put seeds in each relevant month

I've got three of those lock and lock boxes - "Have planted, didn't like, hoping to give away", "Things to plant next year" which is jumbled with around 60 different seed packets, and "Things to plant this year", which never really worked out and has to be sorted into one of the other two. Got to get a fourth though - "Saved seed that I don't want near any of my other seed incase I did it wrong or bugs got in".

Nearer the time of sowing though I tend to sort by sowing date cause it's easiest for me and doesn't take too much brain power.

Likewise, mine are kept in month order & moved along to the next month if I want to sow more.At the end of the sowing term, they just come back to the beginning if I have any left.

I ought to make some card dividers for my biscuit tin instead of using old envelopes to mark the months, but then if I could buy something a bit more suitable that might be better.
