  • Seed to size of plant ratio

Just a thought - which plant has the largest seed to plant size ratio?

Maybe celery? The seeds are like dust, and some of those exhibition celery are bloody massive!

Far from it - busier than I've been in a long time, but one must have a break every now and then.

Hadn't really thought about it - I guess veg seeds would be more appropriate. Let's say fruit and veg as the website includes both.

It still has to be pumpkin. Even with a large seed, it produces a huge amount of vegetation and I'm sure we've all seen some of the giants that people can grow!

Oddly enough, it was the pumkpin, well squash, that got me thinking about it in the first place. I was thinking of where to plant my squashes this year and thought about how far they grow along the ground, and how much vegetation is produced from a small seed....

How about the potato. Tiny seed that can ultimately produce a huge crop.

                    Mustard!
An apple tree is pretty big compared to the size of one pip.
Potato 'true seed' might qualify (they are pretty small) but 'seed potatoes' in the usual sense aren't really seeds are they?
Globe Artichoke must be a contender, the seeds are tiny, being just a monster thistle.

I'm impressed with the size of Celeriac, where the seed is quite tiny in comparison.
