  • Sad Day Today.

We lost our oldest cat today. He just slipped away, quiet & peaceful.

He was a good ol' boy. There'll be a huge hole where he should be in our life.

I'm still crying and have yet to tell our youngest two boys. R.D. was born a week before the youngest, 13 years ago, and in the same room.

It was hard to find a place to bury him as we're on neat clay. BH and #1 son have managed it, but the site is shady with clay soil. We've put a lovely stone that we dug up years ago as a headstone

Our old boy was called R.D. short for Red Devil. He was a force to be reckoned with as a young cat. So, given his colour and his name, the shady site and clay soil, please can I have some recommendations for a nice plant or shrub to put as a marker behind his stone?

It has to be chook safe/proof too.

Oh Jules, I do feel for you. I've just buried two guineapigs - they were littermates and we've had them nearly seven years. One went, and the other one just wasn't happy without her and died about a month after her sister. They may be "only" animals, but they are part of your family and you are bound to miss them.

Aawwwwww that's sooooo sad! I planted a Rose where we buried our last Cat - it grew very well, and was a lovely reminder of her.

aww so sorry for your loss. Have a look on the RHS site at the plant finder - you can find plants by name so might find one fitting for your cat?
