  • QR Codes

I'm looking to pick the collective brain, I'm thinking about adding a QR code to some adverts, what I don't know is if there is an optimum size that you shouldn't go below.

This is an area which I'm only just starting to get to grips with, so comments would be very gratefully received.

It seems there is a specification that you should follow.

Well, the bigger it is, the easier to read, but the quality of the printing makes a difference. The better the print quality, the smaller you can make it. I would say make it as big as you can without detracting from the advert as a whole, rather than try to make it as tiny as possible. After all, you're putting it there to be read.

      Endless wonder.

Well that was my point really, I don't want it to distract from the advert as a whole, its there really as a simple search tool. So I'm looking to make it as small as possible while still big enough to be able to be read.

I take it that QR doesn't mean quarterly report then?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Cheers Newton, I'll have a look. I've since decided its gonna have to be done by trial and error. There are too many variables when doing it in a magazine to be sure that everyone could read it. If I try a few different sizes and get a number of mobiles to test it, that should at least give me the piece of mind that it will be readable.

In work we've had issues with android being able to read our generated barcodes, but iphones being unable to - I know you've said a few mobiles but I'd definitely test the big manufacturers (windows, ios and android) of OS's.
