  • A proper bloke!!

Came down for breakfast this morning and the house manager, Rias, had a face like thunder. Really miserable.
I asked him what was wrong and he explained that his wife and 2 young kids were going up to the NWFP to see her family, for 3 months.

Woooooohhhoooooo, says I. Party party, stay out late, watch sport, woohoooo.

"But Bob sa'ab" comes the earnest reply, "who will wash my clothes?"

A proper bloke if ever I knew one.

I wonder why his wife wants to leave for 3 months, perhaps to avoid washing his smelly socks and pants.

OH isn't allowed near the washing machine to wash our clothes since he decided to put my cashmere at 60C wash

Maybe he did something like that once?

Piskie might have some moussaka left; I think all the wine might have gone unfortunately.

I get to the stage that when his wash basket is overflowing 'cause I'm making a (silent) stand I give in and do his stinking wash (on boil) - wish I could disappear for 3 months though the last time I did that was when I was in hospital and CB was sick of Tes*o ready made dinners

                      Poor old Rias.

He was absolutely speechless when I told him I lived on my own, operated my own washing machine and sometimes even remembered where the oven was.

The cultural differences are massive. Males here either live with mum and so everything is done for them, or live with wife so everything is done for them.

We had Iftahar together this evening and he was in a bit better mood, apparently mum has agreed to move in for the 3 months his good lady is away.
I told him I thought that was a good idea, and very good of his mum, he agreed but said

"but not solving jiggyjig problem sa'ab."

What he'd have preferred his MIL then?

Not that different Bob, you & a few others on here might know one end of a washing machine from another but I think there's still a lot of men over here who follow (or would like to) the lifestyle you've just quoted.

Are you sure he's talking about the same person? (i.e. wife) I mean, washing AND jiggyjiggy - very unusual
