  • Panic tidy up! HELP

Ok youngest son met TV producer at local youth club.
TV company wants to do documentary on teenagers, sex drugs rock n roll etc.
They found lots of articulate girls but the boys all grunted and did the Kevin thing.

    Apart from one My one!

TV woman rang tonight and said he was lively and articulate, they really liked him etc. Personally I think hed been on the coca cola by her description! High as a kite

To cut a long story shortish, TV woman and camera man are coming round to interview him and me tomorrow!

I have cancellled everything, thank heavens I am not at work. Now I just have to drag this house into some kind of shape. Could kill Mr H cos he never finished decorating the landing. Its still bare plaster after 3 years

If I sound like I am panicking its cos I am!

Quite excited by the telly idea though, can you tell?

watch your back................seriously, been here done this , you need to know what type of programme they intend to put out, cos no amount of you being nice is gonna help if they want to edit you to make you look bad.

that said, go for it, it is fun, teaches your kids what TV is really about, and how the media makes things look the way they want to, just be sure you are up for that.

She explained the type of programme, and how she didnt wont to portray kids as awful etc. Of course though I only have her word for that and doubt if we have any editorial control at all.
I have checked that the company is reputable and that she does genuinely work for them but thats all I can do. Thanks for the warning though
Any ideas on how I can avoid us looking like eejits?

no, cos when we did it, i knew what i was letting myself in for, i also had their asurances, they still made me and my kids look bad..........didn't matter to us in the end, we knew, our friends knew, and i have taught my children whats what, just be sure you can take it if they portray you badly, if you can't,. dont do it, they are in it for ratings, first and foremost, if making you look good, gets those ratings thats fine all round, but be aware that if making you look bad gets more ratings they will do it without your consent, they dont need it, they wont ask for it, they will just do it, and it could just be after the event, cos the producer has decided to change the direction of the programme.they will just edit it to suit them.

I would echo what BrideXIII is saying. Watch your back. Many years ago we got involved with the making of a programme about special needs children and their education. It very quickly became apparent that they were directing the kids to do what they wanted to see and film. We pulled out very early and told them to 'stuff it'.
When the programme was aired some of the parents that stayed with the project and took part were not very happy with the results.

          DO NOT TRUST THEM.
It is the doom of man, that they forget.

If you keep it looking untidy & in need of serious DIY help.....you never know...you could be inundated with phonecalls from even more TV peeps to help you get it sorted!!Sounds like a plan to me....let Nick Knowles & Kim & Aggie take the hard work out for you!!
            On a serious....hope it goes well & most importantly...ENJOY!!!

I agree with bride ,the first thoughts are for the ratings
theres alot of rumours still going on about me and personally i dont give a s**t
Theres people out there whos allways jealous and will allways discredit you
In the end you just stick your head up high because you , youre family and freinds
know who the real you is and the truth behind things
Despite that i hope everything goes well and i hope the tables dont turn.

Surely you only need to make sure the living room, his bedroom and the loo are clean and tidy? Rest of the house, Off Limits

ie- hide all the clutter everywhere else!

All clutter in my bedroom, thats the only room you cant see from the front door.
Have also been thinking very hard about your warnings. Gonna be very careful and have a big chat with youngest son about the possible outcomes. I will know more tonight when I have talked to the TV people

But also Fiona, take pride in the fact that your son has clearly been raised well enough to be articulate and polite whilst others of his age are the stereotypical Kevin's.
                      Hope it all works out.

Well the tv girl was very nice. She looked about 12. They want to film 6 teenagers doing their normal stuff. She even warned my son not to say or do anything, either to her or in front of a camera that he didnt want the world or his Mum to know about!
My initial feeling is that he will enjoy this.
I can pull him out at any time and we get to see the final thing before it is broadcast. We dont have editorial control but can voice concerns etc. To be honest hes just a normal teenager so I cant imagine them showing anything too awful that I am not already aware of. I hope

Thanks for all your input guys
