  • oh no, book thief about

I have just done some yoga on the floor to stretch my back, and happened to glance under the sofa.

to my utter horror, I found a library book. The very library book that I swore to staff I had returned "weeks nay months ago"

I can't think how it got there ... I only read in bed, and I keep my books on the bedside cabinet.

I now have to sheepishly hand it in (or more likely just stick it on the shelf all anonymous like)

    Lol.

I found a Japanese book last weekend when we were moving stuff into the new room - I swore to my Japanese tutor back in 1994 that I'd given back to her.

Oops - no way am I able to return it now as she's in Kent somewhere.

I've also just read 'The Book Thief' and can recommend it.

I'm even worserer. I feel REALLY bad about it too. I was looking for a dress for a ball a few months ago, and a lovely little shop near here lent me a dress to take home and try on. They don't really know me and didn't take my name or number or anything. I was in a bit of a rush, and they just offered to let me take it and try at home, surprisingly.

Totally out of character, I forgot all about it. I have no idea why! Then when we were having a clear out, I found it still in the bag in the spare room...

They must have thought I've nicked it! I'm just packaging it up now, with a box of really nice chocolates and a note apologising. I feel rotten about it and was planning to just post it, 'cos I feel too wretched to take it in.

        I'm a bad person.

Rhona...I'm shocked!!!...as for no idea how you managed to forget???A toddler & another growing, house move & new lottie...sounds a pretty feasible reason to me.Sure they'll be fine about it.They've probably already written it off as a goner,so will no doubt be over the moon to have it returned!

Not to mention the book I did actually steal. On purpose.

It was about my GGGGGG? Grandmother [Madame DuBarry] and I found it in a stately home...I asked the lady in the Kitchen if I could 'borrow' it and gave my name and address and I never returned it nor did I intend to. They never wrote asking for it back so I can only assume that they were thrilled that I had found a book about my GGGGGG? Grandmother and let me keep it.

That's what I tell myself anyway...If they are reading, I would be heartbroken to return it but I would if you ask.

                  Sorry.

My goodness! That's quite an ancestor you have. How interesting. Blimey. Knocks my 'distant cousin of Nancy Reagan' into a cocked hat!

Great books. And I have to say - the fact that you all feel guilty proves that you aren't norty but nice!

You can use that to excuse any 'headless chicken panics' you might get into - I know I do! Get into them, that is, not have a belting excuse!

I have no famous relatives but have nearly finished my lottie recipe book. I just need to keep Andrea out of the snug to stop her from stealing the original.
