    Hi All

After some advice and apologies mods if this is in the wrong place - if you could put where relevant.

I will keep all names and where our allotments are out of this.

So, yesterday spent the day at our allotment with my parents as this at the moment is there one place they can go - we actively self distance - we had a lovely day until.......

As my parents were leaving the site at the entrance a hedge was being cut. This is an extract from my Mums account email to our local council.

Good afternoon we went to our sons allotment this morning and were disapointed to see 1 that the hedges are being cut back to virtually nothing at a time when birds are begining to nest and 2 the attitude of the person cutting the hedges. We pointed out that they needed to observe the social distancing rules. The response was we don't need to bother with that as we will all get it anyway.

I have been in contact with the council and they basically don’t want to get involved.

The hedge was stopped being cut immediately.

My concern though is my Mum has been subject to abuse online when it was raised on our local allotment forum. Also veiled threats when the people were approached.

I am disappointed with the way it is being swept under the carpet by our local council. But I will not let this lie as I am concerned my parents will be abused further.

All they wanted was people to social distance and were shot down for their views.

Any thoughts of how to proceed as I feel I am at a dead end of where to go with this.

Abuse and 'threats', try the Police?
To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower

Suggest you forget it and drop the arguement.
First thing the other side will say is that they were cutting hedges and until they were approached they were isolated by sufficent separation.

In effect your parents broke the distancing guide lines by approaching them.

The other I had best say nothing about.
