  • A near miss is as good as a mile

Yesterday I used a heavy slow cooker. When not in use it lives on top of the 6' fridge. I replaced it this morning. I was talking to my daughter on the phone when there was an almighty crash. My OH had opened the fridge door, dislodged the cooker and was now standing, totally in shock, surrounded by heaps of splintered glass. As the thing had fallen it brought with it the contents of the shelves in the door. We looked at each other and simultaneously shouted "Eastenders" lol
It was indeed a narrow escape and I don't like to think of a 'might have been'.

Have you had any near misses?

Just when OH was looking for something and NEARLY stumbled upon my 'stoppy back' cache!!!!!!!!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

My hubby was typing away on the computer keyboard when the telephone connection box (before wireless broadband!) was struck by lightning. He just missed being hit by the blue light that played across the keys and fried the computer!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Sounds like his number just wasn't up that day!

My mum had a similar thing last week when she moved seats in the kitchen (first time in 30 years lol) and the flourescent light cover right above where she normally sits fell down and smashed into a trillion pieces right where she normally is!

            Fate? Or just plain weird!

Years ago we had a morris minor we were driving home from collage to our home in a storm, a huge branch fell off a tree and hit the back window, denting the boot, if it had hit the windscreen a couple of seconds earlier we would have been toast the traffic police said!
