Firstly, I would like to say a big thanks to you all........I have not had a ciggy for 4 days & when I fancy one I just log onto the vine. It's all down to you. So you are not only a wealth of knowledge but very theraputic. Thanks again.

Hi BM - well done and keep it up! I know what you are going through as I kicked a particularly nasty ciggie habit myself in 1991 - I used nicotine patches to help - are you going cold turkey? If you are, my advice, if you waver, is to give yourself a break, not with a ciggie but with one of the substitutes (I tried giving up about 5 times before I finally succeeded). And you will have saved a fortune so start working out what you are going to spend it all on!
Edit - just musing now - just how addictive is the vine? It might be interesting to find out how often on average different people log in each day - and how long they have been actively a member...Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?Comment

Have you noticed any differences? positive (fitter, happier) or negative (mood swings)?
My brother is being worked up to become a donor for transplantation and has been told to give up smoking and lose some weight. As a mark of solidarity my step-dad quit at the same time and my poor mum has been suffering their mood swings. Last time I went down to Derbyshire to see them I took them a punch bag i'd bought of ebay. My brother's getting a lot of use out of it!Current Executive Board Members at Ollietopia Inc:

Hi Ollie. I have tried several methods to stop but I must admit Champix "feels" to be the best as it is not a nicotine replacement. It blocks the receptors in the brain from craving nicotine so then it is just the habit side that needs addressing. People can get quite didactic about giving up smoking, but over and above all the gadgets, gimmicks and theories - you gotta want to give up in the first place (or have a very good reason).

I haven't had a ciggy for just over 6 years now, I don't have that morning cough , people don't screw there nose up at the smell of second hand cig smoke on me, my clothes don't smell of cigs and the best thing...Food tastes sooooo much better, ask my waist line if you don't believe me
