  • My dogs last visit to the vets this morning :(

Sorry to be so depressing but I needed to share this, I am heartbroken. My 15 year old cocker spaniel Sam is going to be put to sleep this morning. He has gone down hill over the past week and I cannot bare to see him like this any more We have had him since a puppy and he has kept me company through some of my lonliest and darkest days but now I have to let him go. I know it's the right thing to do. What makes it worse is that it is his 15th birthday today, some birthday present

No words will fill the gap that Sam will leave, but you have my deepest sympathies.

Big ((((((hugs))))) from me too - I know what you are going through having had the same journey with my two old cats over the past two years. He trusts you to do the right thing for him, just as you have always done.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Oh dear- that's just so sad.

15 is a superb age- you've clearly given him a lovely, healthy life- and I'm sure he'd tell you that if he could- well- you'll see it in his eyes won't you.

Sounds like he's ready for you to help him one last time

big hugs to you both xx

It's the last kind thing you can do for an old friend. Never easy though.

You have done well by him for him to have reached this age. You'll miss him, but you'll know you've been kind to him.
              I'll be thinking of you.

Big hugs hon, never easy. Even knowing you are doing the right thing doesn't make it much better.

I know you feel awful, 2 years ago we had to have our Border Collie put to sleep, it was my son's 13th birthday and we'd had her since our son was 6 months old.

What helped us through was thinking of her in the "happy hunting ground" doing all her favourite things, free of pain and suffering. I hope you can think of Sam in this way and know you've done the best you possibly can for him.

Nothing we can say can make you feel any better, but just know that we're all thinking of you and sending you hugs.

SR - I am so sorry that this is happening.

You have clearly loved Sam very much and even though it is also his 15th birthday today - you have given him the most unselfish present you can as his owner - the gift of a peaceful exit, free from the pain and discomfort of this world.

He will leave a huge gap in your life - but that is a measure of how much he was treasured by you.

RIP Sam and (((((((hugs)))))) to you SR.

An awful time for you - sorry for the loss of Sam.

There will be a time, once the sadness passes, when you start to reminice and then you will know he is back with you and his essence is in your heart forever more.

                              Big Hugs.
