Council officers out and about measuring City Allotments . This is despite compiling a report to elected members of the Council in which they said our plots were twice the size of those in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Surely they needed to know the size of our plots already before making such a ridiculous claim.

That's council officers for you I'm afraid. Did they just guess at the size before, and now have to confirm by actually measuring? -
well given that in another council document prepared a matter of weeks earlier the same officers said our plots were 300 squ yards (which is accepted as the size of plot necessary for a family of four to be self sufficient in vegetables)and then to justify 152% rent increases in a 12 month peiod they said our plots were 300 squ metres, I think the word guess is a bit generous and should perhaps have invented substituted .
