  • mince pies anyone?

Hi there, just thought i'd post this My son, 17, was searching through the cupboard for lunch ideas and found a jar of mincemeat left over from Christmas. In the light of the weather, he asked if we could have mince pies, so I've just lifted a batch from the oven. We still have a homemade Christmas pud too, but with a roast venison dinner on the menu tonight, I doubt anyone would have room.
I also think I've brought him up wrong (right?), because he went to the garage to change the cat litter for me, and saw the bottles of wine. He brought one in to 'warm up', as he knows I hate cold red wine. When I told him that there was still quite a bit left in the bottle I opened last weekend, he brought a VERY large glass through to the kitchen for me while I was cooking, so I could get into the 'Christmas spirit'. He also told me not to worry about being too squiffy to cook dinner, because he'd give me a hand.
I don't think the warm glow I felt was just from the red wine!
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
    Now a little Shrinking Violet.

      What a lovely lad.

I have spent most of the day clearing out the kitchen cupboards and found 3 jars of mincemeat. Must get round to making pies sometime.

Our 17 year old is quite pleasant but I can't quite see him thinking to do any chores for me off his own back
      Happy Gardening,
      Shirley
