  • microwave meals

My OH is posted to Norfolk next month.
He's going to be living up there during the week and home for weekends.
Mess food is notoriously bad and as he is going to be in old style accomodation he has no cooking facilities.
We've managed to get hold of a fridge and a microwave for his room and I'll be cooking up extra portions of meals for him to eat during the week.
I don't do microwave cooking so I'm gonna need some help here!
I'm thinking stuff like chilli and bolli should be OK heated up, jacket spuds, soups, curry that sort of thing.
Can anybody help me out with any more Ideas?

Casseroles are good as all the veg is in them just put cooked spuds in there too. I freeze extras of all meals so that if I have to go away with madmax there is food prepared for the boys. The best advice would be to take out of the freezer in the morning what you fancy for dinner so it is largely defrosted before being reheated. Make sure it is well heated through (this can take a few doses of microwaving and a good stir every few minutes)
    Happy Gardening,
    Shirley

              Ingredients:
One microwave meal from your favourite supermarket. Preferably curry of some description.

              Method:
Place said meal into microwave, set the heat/timer and leave until you hear "Ding".

Serve with your choice of accompaniment. "Rice Ding" is particularly suited.

Shepherd's pie, cottage pie and lasagne are all scrummy heated up. Even left over roast dinners work well.

                        Ding meals... poor OH

Try to leave the food with sauses with a bit more liquidy/ thinner as they thicken up when reheated.
Never test the depth of the water with both feet

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory....

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

Those pasta bake things aren't too bad reheated. I always do big portions so I can freeze leftovers of bolognaise, lasagne shepherds pie etc. Casseroles and dumplings freeze well too.
