Real sorry to hear that! Some peeps are jealous of what another works Damn hard for! Wish they'd just get off their own A$%ses and work hard themselves! The pox on them!

How terrible for you, so sorry to hear that, did u report both incidents to the police?

Dont let them win, recover the tunnel and start again, still enough time!
Dont worry about tomorrow, live for today

What is happening in the UK with allotments, gardens etc., it seems to be getting crazier and crazier, are people there so jealous of what others have and have worked for that they just destroy it.

I'm so pleased we live here now.

Erect some fake bee hives, and put up prominent notices warning of swarm attacks. Might prevent further vandalism?

((((hugs)))) acreman, that's a horrible thing to happen Little b@$*@rds!!
Could you rig up a few (battery operated) motion alarms? They might be enough to cause a fright and put the idiots off! And some 'invisable' guy lines running out from the tunnel? Maybe a net just inside the door for anyone to get tangled up in?
I can't say I blame you for putting the chicken plans on hold, but, don't let them chase you away altogether!!

My nephew had his army cadet kit stolen at the weekend .. from inside the camp, so it was an inside job ... and the kit is 3' x 2' big, so not an easy thing to hide.

The paper says that muggings and thefts have risen sharply since the recession took hold.

How dreadful Acreman. I don't know what's wrong with these degenerates. All I can say is don't let them influence the outcome of your life. Clean up the mess they make and live your own sweet life.
Tony F, it's not the whole UK, probably just urban areas. You don't need to escape to France for civilized living. Rural areas here are relatively crime free and urban areas in France have the same problems as cities here. PARIS !!! It's just that France is relatively more rural.

Sorry to hear that, Acreman - how discouraging, I know you must feel like giving up. but it's not too late in the year, many people are just getting going with sowing now.

Good wishes for you and yours, and the rest of the growing year.

I'm really sorry to hear that Acreman. I hope you won't let these 'people' put you off! I know its nowhere near as bad but we had someone break into our shed last year, they took nothing but on their way out trampled all over the raised beds and wrecked the crops that were in it as they were trying to get over the fence. Keep the faith and don't let them get the better of you!!!

Really sorry to hear that, whereabouts in S'ton are you? We were about 5 miles outside the town before we came up to Cumbria. Don't blame you holding off on the hens for a while.

I remember a news bulletin around the turn of the year which said crime of this sort increases when there is a recession either because the low-lifes are jealous of what you've got, or they think they'll just help themselves to anything they cannot afford.

Danger of breaking neck as I fall off my soap-box, but the folk who claim poverty and that they have to steal always seem to have the money for cigarettes and booze . . .

                              Not a bad idea that

I deliberately keep the bit going to my gate overgrown with brambles and stingers to deter unwanted visitors. Last year my whole gate got pinched, including the hinges, now it has a ruddy great chain and padlock holding it down.
