  • Little pleasures?

    What are your little pleasures?

hearing and seeing my girls buzzing round the front of their hive on the first nice day of a new spring- just lovely
    a nice cup of tea
    walking in the leaves
feeling my toes in the soft sand on a warm beach
seeing flowers on my gooseberry bush
    hearing the doves in summer
    dawn chorus
    robin song in the autumn
Fog horns on the ships at anchor in Thames Estuary - when back at Mums
    seeing toadstools
    the first frogspawn
    full English breakfast
hearing waves breaking on the shore
watching the bats of an evening
the first open fire of winter
    autumn leaves
............... and on and on and on, there are so many lovely little pleasures!

Pleasurable things..now let me think! What a fantastic thread Headfry.

    Smelling a rose,
    Eating my own grown crops,
Cold Autumn days when I'm all wrapped up,
    Hearing my cat purrrrrrr,
    Children giggling with excitement'
Cupping my hands round a big mug of home made soup,(see number 3)
Paddling in warm water in Cyprus holding hands with OH,
    Laughing,
First cup of coffee in the morning,
    Hot buttered toast,
    A good weepy film,
Snuggling up under my quilt when its cold outside,
    Smell of fresh tomatoes,
Sitting outside on a warm summers night till 2 in the morning with friends.

I'm like you Headfry, the list is endless

Watching Bumble Bees - they're my favourite.
Christmas Lights in our village High Street
Seeing the Long Tailed Tits fluttering around in my Hawthorn Tree
Talking to my best friend on the phone for hours
The first Hellebore flower of spring
New born lambs 'boinging' round their fields
Talking about outragious things with my friend at work
Spending time on the Vine (well someone had to say it)
...and best of all, my hubby (aww)

Discounting my OH, as that's an obvious one!!

Sitting on my sofa, with both the huge dogs with me, all warm and toasty
The smell of the air on a clear, fresh, frosty autumn morning
Shuffling my feet through fallen leaves
Finding a still-warm egg in the nest box
A cup of tea and a slice of cake (any cake is fine!)
Being on the beach for sunrise

Watching the chooks scratching about always raises a smile

I also love watching my blokes when they are concentrating on things or when they are sleeping (cat and dog included in 'my blokes')

I love kicking dry leaves around
            the smell of fresh-brewed coffee
the smell of fresh baked bread or doughnuts
the smell of chips with salt and vinegar...

hungry now - off to the chip shop

Sitting next to a coal fire on a cold night (feet wrapped in a blanket).
                  Animals.
Seeing my Oca finally succumb to the cold (I've never been more pleased seeing a plant die)
Hot, buttery toast and a mug of tea.

A nice cuppa, esp after being out in either the rain or freezing cold.
A glass of wine on Friday evening
                    Being able to cook
                    My children
Watching the light outside from a window.
Walking in snow and hearing it creak.
Reading a good book in bed.
                    Daydreaming

These are just some that spring to mind...

Having a good blast out on my chestnut mare....a good gallop cures all!
The sound of my 'girls' when they come in their stables at night munching away happily on their haynets.
Also seeing them all snug and warm in their pj's when they come in at night.
Seeing my OH get off the plane when he's been away for a few days and falling into his arms.
All the little 'English' treats that he brings me back i.e. cadburys flakes...yum!
Pulling down all the shutters on a cold winter's night and sitting by the woodburner all snug and warm.
Snuggling up in bed with my OH.
Waking up on a spring morning and walking down the fields and seeing our wonderful views!

I could go on and on!

Definitely a 'where do I begin' thread.
Cooking on the log fire when we are in Spain (especially fried breakfast)
snuggling down in bed and knowing I don't have to get up yet!
My cuddly Gemma-dog (but she's got hundreds of elbows!)
Nattering for hours on end to my little girl (who is not little at all, but still my little girl for always! Corax Aurata)
And loads of the things other people have mentioned.
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
