    Ahhh poor Jim. It will be a wrench for him and the programme won't be the same without him. Although I quite understand him saying this is the time to stop, because (in his words) "one of the things you want to do when you are showing off on telly, is you want to do it properly."

    I'm still looking forward to the new season though, it's far and away the best gardening programme on TV even though their spring advice always arrives a week or two after I've done the thing they are advising on!

      Selfishly I want to shout nooooo! He comes across as the sort of person you wish was a family member (very endearing). However it is understandable why he is doing it so all I can do is wish him well.
